ECE ILLINOIS is honored to welcome eleven new faculty members to the department. The tremendous talent joining the ECE ILLINOIS team are exciting and impactful additions to the pioneering research and student-learning experiences that are thriving in ECE ILLINOIS.
Saurabh has joined ECE ILLINOIS as a tenure track Assistant Professor in August 2019. Saurabh will also have an affiliate appointment with the Coordinated Science Laboratory where his office will be located. His research is in computer vision, machine learning, and robotics. He received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in Computer Science.
Radhika has joined ECE ILLINOIS as a tenure-track Assistant Professor with an affiliate appointment in both Computer Science and the Coordinated Science Laboratory, where her office will be located. Radhika received her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in Computer Science. Her area of research is computer systems and networking. Radhika’s work revisits the assumptions of today’s wired networking paradigms and envisions alternative algorithms and protocols that align with practical constraints and modern trends in networking technology.
Zhen Peng, Associate Professor
Zhen has joined ECE ILLINOIS as a tenured Associate Professor this August 2019. Zhen comes to us from the University of New Mexico where he was an Assistant Professor since 2013.
Shaloo joined ECE ILLINOIS in September 2019 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. She will have an affiliate appointment with the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory where her office will be located. Shaloo has been an Assistant Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York University since 2015. She received her PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2012). Her area of research is nanoscale electronic and spintronic devices.
Yang has joined ECE ILLINOIS as a Teaching Assistant Professor starting in August 2019. She received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Chinese Academy of Science in 2008. Her area of research is electromagnetic compatibility/interference; signal and power integrity analysis; predictive models for high power microwave effects; modeling and testing of optoelectronic systems, and computational electromagnetics.
Andrew joins ECE ILLINOIS in October 2019 as a tenure track Assistant Professor. Many of you may already know Andrew as he received his MS (2016) and PhD (2019) from ECE right here at ILLINOIS! His office will be located in the ECE Building.
Andrew’s research interest is in the power and energy systems area.
Richard has joined ECE ILLINOIS from Berkeley, CA where he has held a Postdoctoral Scholar position since 2017. Richard’s research often uses domain expertise to identify problem-specific structure (e.g. sparsity, hierarchy, conditioning) that can be exploited for orders-of-magnitude improvements in speed or accuracy.
Richard received his S.M. (2012) and Ph.D. (2017) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He will be joining ECE ILLINOIS as a tenure track Assistant Professor. He will have an affiliate appointment with the Coordinated Science Laboratory where his office will be located.
