Tech Talks

Another great opportunity to connect with students is to host a technical talk on campus. Corporate representatives give these 60-minute talks in 115-seat classrooms, and they feature food and drinks for attendees. These talks are widely advertised to students via building electronic displays, social media, student group email lists, and on the Illinois ECE calendar. The $1,000 fee directly supports the student group hosting your talk. Only ECE student groups can host companies in the Electrical and Computer Engineering building. Learn more about hosting a successful Tech Talk.

The following groups represent specific populations within our department and college, who are authorized to host corporate events in the ECE Building. Other campus groups may not host in this location, but can be invited to participate in an event planned by one of the following four student clubs. Some of these groups maintain resume and skillset databases, which corporate sponsors may access.

Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) is an international honor society for electrical and computer engineers established at Illinois in 1904. Membership is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students.

iRobotics is a competition-oriented, student-led college robotics club that competes in a variety of collegiate robotics competitions and regularly interacts with the local community to feature science and technology.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the second largest student branch in the nation with more than 2,000 general members from various Engineering at Illinois departments. Students of all levels are eligible for membership.

Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) is devoted to supporting and encouraging women in engineering.

Other college-level organizations include the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NBSE), the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and Promoting Undergraduate Research in Engineering (PURE). These organizations host companies in other campus locations. Please contact the group directly to schedule your event or to invite them to participate in an event already scheduled in the ECE Building.
