Corporate Days: Hosting a Successful Illinois ECE Corporate Day
Read on for instructions and tips to help you get the most from your Corporate Day in the ECE Building, which is located at 306 N. Wright St., Urbana. ECE Corporate Days are held in the northwest corner of the ECE Building lobby, facing the 400-seat Grainger Auditorium, and just across the hall from the Daily Byte café and Texas Instruments Student Center. Nearly 3,000 students pass through the lobby each day.

When you arrive, please drop by 1070 ECE Building, located in the northeast corner of the first floor, and we will complete the check-in process.

The provided L-shaped tabletop measures 20 feet x 12 feet x 2 feet deep. Four chairs and two large trash bins are also provided. Electrical outlets are plentiful in the space. Visitors should provide extension cords and power strips.
If you have shipped materials in advance of your event, they will be available in the space one hour before your event begins.
Please send us a logo so we can deploy digital welcome signs for your Corporate Day. You’ll also want to prepare a poster to advertise your presence in the ECE Building. In advance, please provide a portrait-oriented, 11 x 17-inch flyer for use around the building, and an image for use on digital display screen, at a 16 x 9 ratio.
Be sure to include on your poster the event time, event location (ECE Building lobby), company name and logo, and information about what students can expect. For example, will you collect resumes? Allow chatting with engineers and recruiters? Are you providing food, demos, or raffle prizes?
Parking can be difficult on campus. Parking meters that accept coins are located on Wright Street, just west of the building. Fees are $1 per hour.
We can reserve parking spots nearby for $20 each. Parking reservation requests must be made at least one week in advance of your event and are not guaranteed.
If you bring a car to campus and need to unload materials, a loading dock is located on the west side of the building, just off Wright Street. Enter and let the attendee know you have an event in the lobby.
A few full-service and delivery options are suggested. You can choose from many restaurants in the Champaign-Urbana area. Or, consider partnering with Illinois ECE’ Daily Byte Café located on the first floor adjacent to the ECE Building lobby.

Giveaways, banners, table covers, and other marketing materials can be shipped in advance. Be sure to track all shipments, and make sure they are scheduled to arrive before the date of your event. Shipments that are scheduled to arrive the same day of your event may not be delivered on time.

The WiFi network IllinoisNet_Start is meant for campus visitors who need temporary access to the campus wireless network. Visitors will need to re-enter their information on this network every 24 hours. For more information please visit the Technology Services website.
Other Helpful Tasks
- If you have refreshments, double-check that you have a method of serving them, or bring your own plates, napkins, or cups.
- If you need to plug in a device, be sure you have an extension cord.
- If you need to ship materials after the event, be sure you have return labels and tape. UPS and FedEx both service our building.
- Consider using student interns or ambassadors to help staff your event.
- Raffles, in conjunction with an evening event with a student group, can help drive participation at both events.
- Consider staying at the Hampton Inn in Urbana, a two-block walk to our building, where you can park for free.
