Park wins prestigious Korean government postdoc fellowship
ECE ILLINOIS Postdoctoral Research Associate Jongchan Park recently won a prestigious Korean government postdoc fellowship through the "Fostering Next-generation Researchers Program." This fellowship will help support Park to carry out state-of-the-art ultrafast imaging research at the Intelligent Optics Laboratory at Illinois.
"My PhD degree was conferred to me this year from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)," said Park. "This grant enables me to conduct challenging research in a new field during the early stages of my career. This will broaden my research perspective and enable me to pursue an academic career as an independent researcher."
The National Research Foundation of Korea will provide approximately $40,000 to support Park's research. As a researcher in ECE ILLINOIS Assistant Professor Liang Gao's laboratory, Park is studying the demonstration of high-resolution ultrafast fluorescence microscopy.
"I would like to thank my PhD advisor, Professor YongKeun Park at KAIST for my PhD training. I would also like to thank my current supervisor professor Liang Gao for supporting the fellowship application and advising the current research at the University of Illinois."
