ECE ILLINOIS Assistant Professor Can Bayram recently made Illinois history by being the University's first-ever recipient of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council Early Career Award. This prestigious award is given to only one junior faculty in the world who is in the early stage of his or her career in the field of nanotechnology. Bayram is also affiliated with the Micro and Nanotechnology Lab (MNTL) at Illinois.
According to the IEEE Nanotechnology Council site, the Early Career Award was established to "recognize individuals who have made contributions with major impact on the field of nanotechnology." Judges select the winner by considering distinction in technical innovation and achievement as well as impacts on nanotechnology and engineering.
