Illinois ECE Founder Professor Yoram Bresler was recently elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE) “for pioneering and seminal contributions to biomedical imaging theory, algorithms, and technology.”
The International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering (IAMBE) is made up of fellows who are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the profession of medical and biological engineering. The election to IAMBE represents a highly selective process, and there are currently about 200 living Fellows of the Academy.
"I am honored to be elected to the Academy. I had the good fortune to have outstanding students whose work has played a key role in the contributions for which I have been recognized by the election to the Academy," said Bresler, a CSL researcher.
"Also, I have greatly benefited from collaborations with inspiring colleagues on my bio-engineering work, especially Zi-Pei Liang, Jong Chul Ye, Dave Munson, Eric Michelson, and Amir Boag, along with collaborations with exceptional colleagues in other areas. The collegial and supportive atmosphere at CSL and at our ECE department have been an ideal milieu for my work. I thank them all for enhancing the quality of professional life that makes good work happen."
Bresler is also affiliated with the CSL and Beckman Institute.
