PhD student awarded Outstanding Student Presentation Award at American Geophysical Union

Illinois ECE PhD student Mei-Yun Lin has been awarded the 2020 Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA) at American Geophysical Union, a distinction only given to the top 2-5% of student attendees.

Illinois ECE PhD student Mei-Yun Lin was recently awarded with the 2020 Outstanding Student Presentation Award (OSPA) at American Geophysical Union (AGU) for her presentation "Revealing the role of 'hidden heavy ions' component". This prestigious distinction is only awarded to the top 2-5% of student attendees. This is Lin's third best student paper award.
Established in 1919 by the National Research Council, AGU is an innovator among scientific organizations, pioneering new approaches to grow the exchange of scientific knowledge through publishing and meetings.
“Mei-Yun’s selection for the OSPA award last year was remarkable, especially that this is the second time in her career she attends the AGU meeting, and also the second time she is being selected as an OSPA recipient," said Illinois ECE Professor Raluca Ilie.
"However, I am not surprised, as Mei-Yun is a dedicated student with exceptional work ethic, and her work is reshaping the current understanding of ionospheric outflow”.
