Yun Fu is an interdisciplinary Associate Professor affiliated with College of Engineering and the College of Computer and Information Science at Northeastern University. Prior to joining the Northeastern faculty, he was a scientist working at BBN Technologies. He is also a part-time lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Tufts University. Fu’s research interests include machine learning and computational intelligence, human-computer interaction, social media analytics, and cyber-physical systems.

 

A serial entrepreneur, Fu is the founder and co-founder of three start-up companies that commercialize artificial intelligence products and services. Particularly, he is the co-founder and was CTO of TVision Insights Inc., a rising star company that focuses on inventing novel computer vision and big data technology to bring the effectiveness of digital media to the “offline” world of television. The young company has won many innovation and entrepreneurship awards.

 

He received a bachelor’s degree in information engineering and master’s in pattern recognition and intelligence systems from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, and a master’s degree in statistics and PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
