In recognition of his technical contributions to computer architecture and compiler techniques for instruction-level parallel-processing compilers.

Scott Mahlke heads the Compilers Creating Custom Processors Group in the Electrical Engineering Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan. His work focuses on designing high-performance, lowpower computer systems using application-specific technologies. Computer systems, such as those in cellular phones, hearing aids, and environmental sensors are made faster, smaller, and more energy efficient by customizing their design to the applications they run most often.

Scott has been recognized for his outstanding work with several awards including the Morris Wellman Faculty Development Assistant Professor Award in 2004 to recognize outstanding contributions in teaching and research; the International Symposium on Computer Architecture Influential Paper Award in 2006, which recognizes the paper 15 years earlier that has had the most impact on computer architecture; and a National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2003 for his research in design application-specific computer systems.
