Samuel Grandford White, Jr., is an engineer and educator; born in Anniston, AL in 1945. He received his B.S. Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee Institute in 1967, his M.S. in 1970, and his Ph.D. in 1978 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He married Sandra Kirby in 1968 and they have two children – Samuel Grandford, III and Sherri Christina.
