In addition to serving as vice president for database servers within Information Management for the IBM Software Group, Arvind Krishna has responsibility for worldwide development of information management software. In his database role, he defines the business and technical strategy and is responsible for the development, delivery, sales, and ecosystem of the data servers segment, a multibillion-dollar market for IBM.
Arvind joined IBM in 1990, and since then has held executive, product management, and technical research positions. Previously, he was the vice president for technical and business strategy for the IBM Software Group. He was responsible for setting the platform technical strategy, industry alliances, and defining key growth opportunities for IBM software.
Arvind also previously served as the vice president of provisioning and security development for Tivoli Software within IBM’s Software Group where he was responsible for setting the technical strategy for IBM’s security/identity middleware, provisioning and orchestration middleware, and delivering the products in support of the strategy. Prior to his roles in the Software Group, Arvind was the director of Internet infrastructure and computing utilities research at IBM’s T. J. Watson Research Center.
Arvind has been active on the editorial boards and program committees of several IEEE and ACM technical journals and conferences. In addition to his Illinois degree, he has a bachelor of technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in electrical and computer engineering.
