Bruce C. Mather Memorial ECE Scholarship

Established 2017

Bruce C. Mather (BSEE '80, MSEE '83, PhD '86) was born in Lafayette, Indiana, February 24, 1958. The eldest of Donald and Zoe Mather’s three sons, Bruce’s interests were varied, and he excelled at them all. He came to the University of Illinois to study engineering. Even with the rigorous curriculum, he found time to lead the men’s glee club, The Other Guys, as he earned his three degrees in the department of electrical and computer engineering. Bruce was BAE Systems' Chief Technical Director, a member of University United Methodist Church, a board member of the North Chamber Leadership Lab and the Clarity Child Guidance Center, and a mentor for the Edgewood School District with First Robotics. He was on numerous music teams for the Emmaus Community and was also a member of Under the Bridge Ministry. But most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
