Chen and Choudhury elevated as IEEE Fellows

ECE ILLINOIS Professors Deming Chen and Romit Roy Choudhury have been elevated to IEEE Fellows by the IEEE Fellow Committee for their contributions to FPGA high-level synthesis and to wireless network protocols and indoor localization, respectively. Each year, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for elevation to IEEE Fellow following a rigorous evaluation procedure. Less than 0.1% of voting members are annually selected for this member elevation.

Chen has primarily focused his research on circuits and computer-aided design of integrated circuits while Choudhury has focused on networking and distributed computing. 

The IEEE is the world's leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity. With over 400,000 members in 160 countries, the IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.

According to the IEEE press release, the IEEE publishes 30% of the world's literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields and has developed more than 13000 active industry standards. The association also sponsors or co-sponsors nearly 1700 international technical conferences each year.
