Support ECE Initiatives
Your gift today makes an impact tomorrow
Illinois ECE has sent more than 3,800 lab kits to students around the world this academic year. Lab materials for ECE 110, 120, 206, 210, 343, and 385 supported remote-learning and ensured students received valuable hands-on learning opportunities.
The kits replicate the instrumentation and materials that the students would have received for in-person labs. They include everything from wires, breadboards, and circuit components to a USB-powered test and measurement instrument that brings typical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and power supplies to the students’ laptops.
Your generous contributions to the ECE Trust Fund allow us to move quickly to support critical initiatives like this. The fund is unrestricted, meaning the department has the greatest flexibility to use it to address its most pressing needs. Your gift today will make an immediate impact on the lives of our students as they work to become the next generation of problem-solvers.
Redesigning the hardware labs and preparing lab kits that would allow our freshmen students to perform the labs remotely without any in-person help and without compromising the course learning objectives required remarkable efforts and teamwork in the department. In spring and fall 2020, more than 90% of our ECE 120 students completed all the hardware labs successfully, which we consider a tremendous success.

We really feel for the challenges students are facing at this time. When it comes to students attending in-person or remotely, we want to make sure the experience is as good as possible.
