ECE Teaching Assistant Professor Olga Mironenko has been named the 2025 recipient of the Ronald W. Pratt Outstanding Teaching Award for faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The award, which is nominated by current and former ECE students, recognizes faculty members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to teaching and student success.

For Mironenko, the recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from her students.

“Personally, it feels very emotional,” she said. “My colleagues and students took time out of their busy schedules to write letters of support. It speaks better than a thousand words.”

Mironenko teaches in the Power and Energy Systems area, where she is known for her commitment to student learning and her thoughtful approach to education. She continually works to strengthen her teaching by engaging with instructional resources and participating in broader conversations about engineering education.

She believes strong teaching remains essential, even as technology transforms the classroom.

“Good teaching has always been important,” she said. “The majority of us need the systematic approach, guidance, and sense of community provided by in person teaching.”

Mironenko credits the supportive environment within the department as a key part of her experience as an educator. She expressed appreciation for her colleagues and the collaborative culture within the power and energy systems area.

The Ronald W. Pratt Outstanding Teaching Award reflects Mironenko’s lasting impact on students and her dedication to excellence in engineering education.
