Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011, of pancreatic cancer. We asked a few ECE students to give us their reaction to his passing and the importance he has had in the world of technology.
Gana Pathy, freshman
"It’s pretty sad, he was a pioneer in the technical field, and Apple is going to miss him."
Ben Rosborough
Ben Rosborough, senior
"To be honest, I don’t think it was surprising. I know he had gone through a lot of health issues in the past year. In terms of how I feel, it’s crazy. I know a lot of people hate Apple products for whatever reason, but, I mean, the man changed the world. He’s change the face of consumer electronics of companies, what he brought to the company was just astounding and the world has truly lost a great person."
Skylar Lee
Skylar Lee, grad student
"It’s really sad, he did a lot of great stuff – he made Apple what it is. But I kind of feel like people give too much credit to him at the same time. My friend said he was the Edison of the current century, but he’s nothing compared to Edison. Steve Jobs was a good marketer […] but I don’t think he was a big deal. He was a good marketer, for sure, and he made things really user friendly."
