Gale A. Beanblossom
2020 Distinguished Alumni Award
For significant contributions to ASIC design for aerospace engineering, mentorship to engineering students, and continued loyalty and philanthropic service.
Gale Beanblossom (BS Bioengineering ’80, MSEE ’82) worked in the Aerospace field for over 32 years as a digital design engineer focusing on ASIC design, the Chief Project Engineer for a major defense program, and as a Senior Electrical Engineering Skills Manager at The Boeing Company until she retired in late 2014.
Gale proudly served as a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Alumni Board and is currently a University of Illinois Foundation member. She is a past recipient of the Marcia Peterman ECE Award that was established by the ECE Alumni Board for dedicated service as a member of the board. Gale was the 2018 Grainger College of Engineering Convocation speaker. She enjoys coaching and mentoring engineering students to help them create impactful résumés and to prepare students for interviews as they pursue internships and launch their careers.
Gale and her husband Todd (BSEE ’80 and MSEE ’82) are committed to supporting future generations of ECE graduates and have established two ECE scholarships. Gale is passionate about staying active and has been engaged in the fitness profession for more than 37 years (certified as both a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor). Gale and her husband enjoy visiting campus often for ECE activities, the University of Illinois Foundation Weekend and are Illinois Football season ticket holders.
