This week marks the 50th Annual ECE ILLINOIS Alumni Awards Weekend September 12-14, 2019. It will be a time to honor and celebrate the outstanding work of the ECE ILLINOIS alumni.
The weekend will include a 2019 alumni awardee panel on Thursday, September 12th, 4 pm – 5 pm with a reception to follow in the lobby. The panel will feature the 2019 alumni award recipients who will speak about their successes, strategies, and perspectives, and will offer their “alumni wisdom” related to starting as ECE ILLINOIS students and getting to where they are today. Students are encouraged to attend and will have an opportunity to speak with the alumni award winners during the reception following the panel.
Friday, September 13th will include the ECE ILLINOIS fall alumni board meeting and the annual distinguished ECE ILLINOIS alumni awards banquet.
Special events celebrating The Grainger College of Engineering renaming will also be held on Friday, September 13th. The Grainger Celebration will commemorate the historic gift that named our college and the connection that started over 100 years ago with ECE ILLINOIS alumnus, William W. Grainger.
The Grainger Celebration will take place at Graziano Plaza (between Everitt Lab & Engineering Hall) at 2:00 PM. Join to hear from members of campus leadership and learn how The Grainger Foundation's $300 million in total support will shape the future of engineering education. A reception will immediately follow on the north patio of Engineering Hall.
The weekend will wrap with a "Grainger Grove" takeover by The Grainger College of Engineering at Memorial Stadium prior to the Fighting Illini football game. The college will take over Grange Grove and turn it into "Grainger Grove" to celebrate the generosity and transformative impact The Grainger Foundation has had on our students and engineering campus.
"Grainger Grove" will feature interactive booths showcasing student innovation from the college and brunch (with ticket purchase). Connect with the campus community, meet current students, and learn about the exciting breakthroughs coming from Grainger Engineering.
