Charles B. and Ada Pear Scholarship
Established 1999
Jean and Richard F. H. Yang (MS '48, PhD '51) established this scholarship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in honor of the family which provided so much assistance to them when they first came to the United States from China. The friendship of Charles B. and Ada Pear is cherished by the Yang family and this scholarship is meant to honor their memory.
Description:
This scholarship was established by Jean and Richard R. H. Yang (MS '48, PhD '51) to support students based upon their academic merit.
Selection Process :
The scholarship application is open to all students in the department. The Scholarship Committee reviews the scholarship data forms and identifies the students to receive the scholarship. At the request of the Donors, the department is only to award once the fund distributes enough to award 2 scholarships (every four years). The scholarship shall be based upon academic merit. Need may also be taken into consideration. Preference shall be given to students who are African Americans.
Award:
The recipient(s) will be recognized during an annual Student Awards Banquet. All student recipients are featured on the second floor of the ECE Building's Student Honors Wall.
