Biography

Dr. Pengfei Song is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is also a full-time faculty member at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, and an affiliate faculty member with the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and the Department of Bioengineering. His research interests focus on ultrafast ultrasound imaging, super-resolution ultrasound imaging, deep learning, and ultrasound elastography. Dr. Song has published over 70 peer-reviewed journal papers and holds several patents that have been commercialized by ultrasound companies and used worldwide in the clinic to benefit patients. Dr. Song is an awardee of the NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award and the NIBIB Trailblazer Award. He is an elected Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and a senior member of the National Academy of Inventors.
