Zakai, Moshe
1998 Distinguished Alumni Award
In recognition of fundamental contributions to stochastic systems theory.
Moshe Zakai (PhD ’58) retired in September 1998 from his position as distinguished professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) in Haifa, Israel. He spent his career studying noise and is well known for the development of fundamental differential equations for stochastic systems and for the development of a fundamental filtering formula known as the Zakai equation. Internationally recognized for his contributions, Zakai has been named an IEEE Fellow, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
