ECE students featured as semifinalists for Image of Research exhibition

Illinois ECE graduate students Pankul Dhingra and Yamuna Phal have been named as two of the semifinalists for the annual Image of Research exhibition. The Image of Research exhibition is an annual multidisciplinary competition celebrating the diversity and breadth of graduate student research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is organized by Scholarly Commons of the University Library, the Graduate College, and supported by a generous gift from the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. 

The semifinalist entries can be found in this online gallery. First prize, second prize, third prize, honorable mention, and the People's Choice Award will be announced on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. The People's Choice Award will be determined by voting in which people can vote for the top three entries here by Monday, March 22, 2021.

Pankul's image is based on his first working semiconductor laser that he designed, grew, and fabricated at the Holonyak Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory. View Pankul's image and full description here.
