Power and energy students, academic and industry leaders gathered at the annual IEEE Power and Energy Conference at Illinois (PECI) to investigate future technologies in the field from February 27 – 28, 2020 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Leading industry and academic experts in the field presented the conference which attracts dozens of undergraduate and graduate students from across the Midwest.
“It has students from all over the Midwest who are working on a variety of topics, very interesting topics about demand, response, and energy, highly variable energy, renewable energy, nuclear power, electric motors, electric airplanes, electric transportation, security. They are all here together,” said Bruce Hajek, Illinois ECE Department Head and Leonard C. and Mary Lou Hoeft Endowed Chair in Engineering.
The conference is organized by the IEEE PES/PELS/IAS Joint Student Chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. PECI assembles students pursuing energy-/electronics-related degrees and experts from industry and academia to engage in a forum for technical presentations and professional development. Past attendees have come from universities around the globe as well as a large number of industry partners.
PECI 2020 student travel grants were supported by NSF.
