ECE ILLINOIS Corporate Connections partner John Deere recently hosted ECE ILLINOIS student interns for the summer. John Deere internships are 13-week long project based internships located across the Midwest. Interns work in fields such as Software Engineering, Software Analysis, Infrastructure Engineering, or Cybersecurity.

ECE ILLINOIS students Raymundo Vargas, Jack Gronenthal, Erik Jacobson, Jacqueline Jiang, Apoorva Josyula, Murugan Narayanan, Gautam Putcha, Benoit Ortalo-Mange, and Ishaan Sehgal were among the interns at John Deere this summer. Other Illinois students included Divya Badri, Joseph Carolan, Pranav Perepa, Maanav Ahluwalia.

The summer included a two-day intern conference with over 500 interns from different domains. To conclude the summer, the interns had an opportunity to give a presentation on their experience.

The students were able to use many skills they already learned as well as learn new skills. These include technical skills like new programming languages, soft skills, or experience in a corporate culture. The students also get to work with emerging technologies for a Fortune 100 company.

John Deere had 13 IT interns from Illinois and 50 IT interns this summer. Each intern completed meaningful work on Deere teams with direct impacts to customers, dealers, and users.

"John Deere is not just a large equipment manufacturer," said John Deere representative Kelby Lanning. "We strive to be a technology leader. There are tons of opportunities at Deere to work with cutting-edge technologies."

"It is a very competitive process consisting of an application, interview, and a technical assessment," said Lanning regarding the application process for John Deere interns. "Hundreds of students from many different schools apply for this opportunity. UIUC students are also competing against students representing different backgrounds throughout the country."

John Deere is in the middle of hiring their 2020 summer intern and full-time positions, so make sure to apply online at johndeere.com/careers.
