Out of 46 submissions, ECE ILLINOIS Associate Professor Eric Chitambar's proposed summer school program in quantum computing was named as one of the nine recipients of the Discovery Partners Institute seed grant.

Chitambar's program embodied the kind of work that the Discovery Partners Institute wanted to focus on - solutions to grand challenges in fields including "environment and health, quantum computing, education and urban resilience" according to The News-Gazette

Along with Professor Paul Kwiat, the John Bardeen Endowed Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics, from the College of Engineering, Chitambar envisions for the weeklong summer school program to provide basic training for students and faculty interested in pursuing research and entrepreneurship.

All chosen projects will receive funding, staff support, and use of the DPI facility to help develop the projects into full-scale research and education programs.
