Former ECE ILLINOIS faculty member and alumnus joins ANSYS as CTO

Former ECE ILLINOIS faculty member and alumnus Prith Banerjee (MSEE '83, PhD '85) has been announced as the new Chief Technology Officer of ANSYS. He will be joining their executive team to help develop ANSYS's technology and oversee their future innovation and growth. ANSYS is a global leader in engineering simulation. They develop and market engineering simulation software that tests a product's durability, temperature distribution, fluid movements, and electromagnetic properties. The ANSYS software is also used to design products and semiconductors.

At Illinois, Banerjee served as a professor at ECE ILLINOIS and the Director of Computational Science and Engineering for almost 12 years. Banerjee continued to serve in academia as a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Northwestern University and the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then transitioned to industry as the Senior Vice President of Research and Director of HP Labs and became the CTO and Executive Vice President of ABB in 2012 and Schneider Electric in 2015. Most recently, Banerjee served as the Senior Client Partner at Korn Ferry.
