Andrew Carl Singer, Fox Family Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named as the first Associate Dean for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He will begin the position June 16, 2018.

Singer received his BS, MS, and PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990, 1992, and 1996, respectively. He was appointed as Director of the Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) in 2005 and the Dean’s Special Advisor on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2014.

During his tenure in these two roles, Singer made a visible difference by creating a spirit of entrepreneurship and instilling an appetite and drive for creativity and technology innovation in the students. He has also been instrumental in launching the successful Innovation, Leadership, and Engineering Entrepreneurship (ILEE) degree program

In addition, through a joint effort with former Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost, John Wilkin, and with the support of Chancellor Robert Jones, Singer was appointed as the Interim Director of the new Siebel Center for Design (SC4D) in 2017 due to his leadership with the SC4D building project.

Singer’s past experiences and proven leadership will be instrumental in changing the landscape of our campus in design, innovation and entrepreneurship as the Associate Dean for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Singer is also affiliated with the Coordinated Science Lab and the Beckman Institute.
