U.S. Army selects alumna as RDECOM director

ECE ILLINOIS alumna Juanita Harris (BSCompE '85) has been named as the new director for the Weapons Development and Integration Directorate (WDI) and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC).

Prior to her present position, Harris was Deputy Director for the Aviation Development Directorate, AMRDEC.

She began her career as an electronics engineer with Boeing in St. Louis, Mo., then moved to New London, Conn., as a software engineer with Mystech Associates and Structured Technology.

In addition to her degree from ECE ILLINOIS, Harris earned a master's degree in computer resources and information systems management from Webster University and a doctorate in management in organization leadership from the University of Phoenix.

She received the Alumni Leadership Award, Black Engineer of the Year Award, in May 2012, and was named a STEM Science Spectrum Trailblazer by the Black Engineer of the Year Award in Dec 2011.
