Biography

Sibin Mohan is a Research Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science and the Information Trust Institute (ITI) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on security for cyber-physical systems, secure cloud computing and software-defined networking for use in safety-critical domains. He has also worked at Hewlett Packard's India Software Operations in the past.

Sibin completed his Ph.D. in 2008 and his M.S. in 2004 - both from the Computer Science department at North Carolina state University. He completed his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangalore University, India in 2001

Sibin's interests are in the areas of Computer Systems, Networks and Security – especially in the interplay between these areas. A particular focus is on issues related to security and novel networking technologies for cyber-physical, real-time and embedded systems.

His current research topics include, (1) integration of security as a first-class principle in the design of real-time cyber-physical systems;2. Behavior-based intrusion detection systems for cyber-physical systems with real-time properties and 3. Use of software-defined networking in safety-critical systems cyber-physical systems.3. Use of software-defined networking in safety-critical systems cyber-physical systems.4. Software Defined Control for Smart Manufacturing Systems5. Isolation and Security for lightweight Cloud Computing Infrastructures6. Detecting anomalous behavior in distributed energy systems (DERs)
